Dr. Francisco Prieto is a family physician in Sacramento, California. He is the Chair of the ADA’s National Advocacy Committee and former president of the ADA’s Sacramento Sierra Community Leadership Board. Dr. Prieto graduated from the University of Minnesota Medical School, did his residency at the University of Arizona, and has been in practice for nearly four decades. He is an Associate Clinical Professor, at the University of California at Davis, Department of Family Practice and has been a researcher at the Sutter Institute for Medical Research since 2010. He was appointed as a founding board member of the Citizens Oversight Committee for the California Institute of Regenerative Medicine—California’s statewide stem cell research board, as the representative for type 1 diabetes. Among his many additional, professional affiliations are the American Academy of Family Physicians; Physicians for Social Responsibility; Sacramento Sierra Valley Medical Society, and the California Medical Association.
